The Aurelian city walls, built over 1700 years ago by Marcus Aurelius in just 5 years as an approx. 20 km long protective wall against foreign invaders, are on average 6 m high and 3 m thick. Two thirds are still intact with a total of 18 city gates such as the Porta San Paolo at the Cestius Pyramid or the Porta San Giovanni at the Lateran Palace, the Porta Latina to the Via Appia to the south or the Porta Pia to the north or the huge Porta Maggiore to the east....

On this tour by van, we will visit some of the city gates and at least 3 of the 7 patriarchal churches. Depending on the traffic situation, we will also visit the churches from the inside.
